KINDNESS TO ALL BEINGS

KINDNESS TO ALL BEINGS

Buddhism teaches us not to hurt or kill any being intentionally. It encourages to love and protect all beings. The Buddha says “he who loves himself should injure none.” Treat others as you would like to be treated. This golden rule is endorsed by all religious teachers, yet people have often disregarded the fact that life is precious to every living being.

If everyone in our society can learn to benevolent and grateful, or be ready to reciprocate, even in a smaller way, the kindness shown to each person, then human society will become more peaceful and pleasant to live with. Human relationships, like the law of action and reaction, is a two-way traffic. When love and mutual respect is practiced in private as well as in public life, clashes or misunderstandings that effect goodwill and good relationships will be eliminated.

We should always strive to help and serve others. At the same time, we should not neglect the training and development of our understanding so that we can see things as they are and not what they appear to be. We will be able to do this by using our common sense received through our meditation practice, and applying wise attention and mindfulness where it is necessary. When we are going to help others, it is very important for us to know who or what they are and their attitude, in order that we can be mindful to handle them with care….
