The Buddha was born as a prince under a tree, gained Supreme Enlightenment under a tree and wandered about in India for 45 years expounding his teachings to the world with compassion for those suffering and passed away under a tree at Kusinara at the age of eighty years, all on a Vesak Full Moon day.
